Not Yet Dead

So I couldn't sleep last night, and around 2 AM I start thinking about the things I've worked on this summer...and out of nowhere I get this random compulsion to change the wall color of the background in a picture I did over two months ago, thinking, "Oh I'm so stupid! The wall should be green! Of course it should be green!!" So next thing you know, I spent thirty minutes playing around with colors and acting like an insane person until I was satisfied and finally passed out on my bed. I actually do think it came out better though in the end.

Although since I've been busy (spent a week in Nevada and California, and am leaving today for a week in Connecticut), I've primarily been working on FC pages so that I don't miss any updates despite my absence. BUT that's not to say I haven't been working on other things too!! I did another digital painting attempt, but since it came out rather creepy looking I won't share it haha I'll wait until I'm better to post any of those feeble attempts XD But also I have:

The left I've had inked for a while and its in the coloring process at the moment (base colors just about almost done), but I haven't yet had the time to finish it and its been put aside for other drawings and things that have had to get done. The right is a poster idea I sketched out and have a little bit inked of. So I haven't been a completely dead, I swear haha! I hope to at least finish the left drawing before I go back to school.

And now for some completely random doodles! Featuring the kids a bit more grown up from the left picture (including the one who in that picture isn't yet born haha)

I need to draw kids more often. They're fun to draw and so cute. X3

OP Fanart & a Quickie Self-Portrait

I feel like its been a while since I've posted...but it actually has only been a week. o_o Well, other than finishing another page of FC as is usual, I've only sketched and begun inking my next illustration. It is considerably in lighter spirits than that last one haha. Hopefully I'll finish it before next week, but I'm not really that confident that I will because so far its been a slow process.

But in addition to that, I've done two quickie black-and-white ink drawings. Having just finished the Enies Lobby/CP9/Water 7 arc of the One Piece anime, I decided to do a fanart of my favorite character in the arc, Kaku. I actually liked a lot of characters there; they were all pretty great...But Kaku was my favorite. I drew him in his Galley-La outfit instead of his CP9 one simply because I liked it better, but I unforetunetly couldn't find good reference of the tools he fights with in Water 7, so I had to wing it on the best I could make it out. Still, I thought it came out alright. Having absolutely fallen in love with One Piece, I'd love to do a more serious fanart later...maybe after this other illustration I'm working on. :) I think next I want to draw Franky and Iceburg, though I've still been meaning to draw Zoro...hmmm...

So Kaku is on the left, and to the right is a quick self-portrait type of drawing. I'd taken a bunch of pictures to use for reference on the next page I'm drawing of FC and really liked the angle of the image, so I decided to make a quick drawing out of it. Only spent a couple of hours on it, and I'm pretty happy with it considering. Just wanted to make it kind of fun and epic for my deviantart ID haha. As you can probably tell, the outfit I gave myself was very much inspired by having drawn Kaku's ;)

That's all for this week!

Emo Picture is Emo.

So I finished the last two pages of chapter one of Fruitful Confusion, finished two of the three chapter extras, sketched the last one, sketched the chapter two cover page, and finished this illustration...all in one week?! Woah! Actually, most of that was finished before Friday even. I'm so used to last minute finishing things on the weekend that I had no idea what to do with myself...

I had originally sat down thinking "I'll do a children's illustration for once!" But, well, that didn't work out and somehow or other I ended up sketching what would become the following drawing about domestic violence. The source for this is primarily because I've been listening to a lot of Pink lately, and two songs in particular inspired this drawing - "Family Portrait" and "Conversations with my 13-year-old Self". I'm pretty happy with how it came out, especially the teenager in the foreground. Although whether the dad is going to slap her or karate chop her head off, I have no idea...I played around with some of my coloring techniques, and I think I'm starting to develop something that works. We shall see. (:

Work, Work, Work...

Finished chibi Zev a while ago, as you can see on the left. So just have Keshi and Sachi to do still, and maybe female Keshi as well. :D I've made stickers out of Zev and Rezen (and some of my Hart drawings :P), but I haven't yet decided what to do with them. They're super easy for me to make, and have laminate to protect the drawing. I'm not sure yet if I want to just sell them individually, or perhaps offer them as a free bonus for those who commission me to draw something for them. I'm kind of leaning towards the latter at the moment.

I also finished another picture, this one of the four dancing and looking hip haha. XD I'm pretty happy with how it came out. :) Not sure what I shall draw next...thinking of doing something totally different and non-FC related, but just don't know what yet. Hmmm...

I attempted to do a quick self-portrait a little while ago - just for digital painting practice since I'm not very good at that - but I've decided not to post it since it didn't come out that well haha. It's on my deviantart site though if you want to check it out.

I've gotten quite a bit behind on working on Elan...I have'nt lost interest in it, but have just been having a hard enough time keeping myself busy and on-task with FC at the moment. Alas. >_< Hopefully I can get back on that soon.

That's all for now~

More Shirts!

Made a few more designs for shirts today! I rather like these ones; they were fun to draw. :)

Check out the shop page to see them in different colors!

Hopefully I can make some stickers of them soon~ ;D

New Shirts!

I took some time to create two little critters today, both of whom will be feature on some upcoming designs for t-shirts, keychains/charms, etc. :D The first is Hart, a very happy and energetic little raccoon who loves sweets! The second is Dot, a squirrel who seems to find herself in all sorts of trouble.

The top three have already been turned into t-shirt designs, which you can check out here! ^-^ As you might be able to tell, the ones with Dot came out rather sequential haha. I suspect she stole that acorn. ;)

I hope to create more soon, but for now I need to take a break and focus more on my comics and illustrations. I admit to having slacked a few days...woops! Time to get back to work~!

A bit at a time...

I've still been busily working on projects a bit at a time. Just about finishing page 3 of Elan, and I did a little picture of Rezen as a chibi (left) which I hope to turn into a keychain. If I'm successful, then I will make designs for a chibi Keshi and Zev next :D My redesign for Fruitful Confusion's website is almost done, and I will probably launch it when we get just about to the end of chapter one. The next page is almost done as well. :)

Mm...that seems about enough for news for now. There are still some other drawings I want to do but I need to figure out when I'll start working on them, or choose what medium I want to use. I'm thinking of doing either a colored pencil still life or self-portrait next, or perhaps a portrait of someone else. Not yet decided.

That's all for now~!

Week One of Summer, Complete!!

It's already been a little bit over a week and it's been pretty productive! :D Hopefully I can keep this energy going~ I finished another chapter in Fruitful Confusion's script, and I hope I can finish the whole thing this summer. So other than a lot of the little things here and there I've been working on (and finishing a page of FC early, which goes up tomorrow), I finally finished this illustration of Teho and Nisha (who are from FC, but not yet introduced sadly!)

I haven't really drawn these two in foreverrrr...and then was writing a chapter of FC's script that pretty much features them and decided I needed to draw this. It was just too cute. They're an adorable couple :'D I love 'em even more after drawing this.

I'm pretty pleased with how it came out. The piano wasn't fun, buuut whatever. I almost wasn't going to draw the piano open (finding reference turned out to be hard!) but in the end I did. I couldn't help it. The image I envisioned had the top open, so I was going to draw it open, by gosh! And I don't know what it is, but something about that carpet looks luxurious and I want to roll on it haha! XD

I don't why, but it amuses me that Teho's shirt came out purple. It actually was navy blue at one point, but when I did color correction so their colors were altered to match the lighting of the room, it turned really...purple. XD Oh well; can't be helped haha!

Anyway, now that that's done, I can move on to the next image to do on my list...woohoo! Gotta keep working! 8D

Let the Summer Projects Commence!!

Lots of projects and drawings to work on this summer! On the left is a sketch for an illustration I'm working on (two characters from Fruitful Confusion who have yet to be formerly introduced), and below is a page from a short comic I'm working on. It's a pure black and white worldless comic, done mostly for my own experimentation purposes. It should be fun though. :) I kind of wanted to have it be for only print and not online, but we'll see how I feel about that when I get to the end. I'll be updating FC regularly now, of course. (Yay!) I've been wanting to do some watercolor sketches, but its been rather chilly out and its deterred me...I miss the warm Florida weather! D: Ohhhh wellllll....

I'd share all the things I want to do this summer, buuuut I think it might be more fun to keep it a surprise. So stay tuned for a very productive summer this year! ;D

GIC and Jon Stewart

Remember that baby image from quite some time ago? Ohlook, its the version with text I promised! XD This was done before health care passed for my graphic design class.

Our last project for graphic design was to create packaging design for a fictional company. The one I chose to do was called Sucre Cafe, which was a place with loads of candy, cupcakes, cakes, etc. to choose from. Target audience was primarily children, but wanted to also be respectable and be somewhat appealing to older audiences as well. I made three different sized packages - a small bag for candy, a medium bag for candy, and then a box to hold cupcakes and/or cake. It was fun to do, though designed the package shape was a bit challenging.

The colors look really different online for some reason. o_O But you get the general idea I suppose.

And for our figure class, we had an assignment to do a portrait. From a single reference image we had to change the expression to whatever we wanted, though preferably something that says something about the person. I decided to do Jon Stewart because I've been wanting to draw him for a while...I honestly haven't a clue what exactly the expression is he's making in the picture I drew, but at the same time it seems just as ridiculous as he is sometimes haha.
